RSVP Volunteer Spotlight on t AIL Barbara Tilly How do you volunteer as a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) participant? I have been volunteering for my community and my church, Grace Lutheran for years, and I have been an RSVP volunteer since 2013. "Packing Friendship" is a weekend backpack program that discretely provides food to local students in need. In 2018 I was nominated by RSVP for the Governor's Award. I won and was able to receive it at the Governor's mansion in Olympia (https://governor.wa.gov/ news/2019/nominations-underway-washingtons-volunteers). I have enjoyed my life of serving my community and the people in it and I intend to keep serving. Why do you volunteer with RSVP? ... for the benefit of growing Packing Friendship and being able to serve more children in our school districts. RSVP inspires people to stay involved and help people in need in our community. Do you have a message to share? I like the model of "Service above Self" and I try to live by that every day.
