RSVP Volunteer Spotlight Pat and Bruce Phillips How do you volunteer as a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) participant? We got involved with RSVP through the Chelan Douglas Community Action Council "Empty Bowls" event. At their soup supper, we signed up to donate food through the Green Bag Program. That led us to volunteer to collect the bags on a scheduled basis and deliver them to the food warehouse. We now donate food, and collect the bags from both business and residential donors. Why do you volunteer with RSVP? The RSVP connection to Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council provides us multiple opportunities to volunteer. Bruce focuses on the Green Bag Program. Along with the Green Bag Program, I have been involved with "Empty Bowls, both with the fundraising, bowl painting events, and the Empty Bowls Soup Supper. lenjoy meeting community members who are having fun creating their art and supporting a good cause. What message would you like to share? Volunteering through RSVP has been an enjoyable way to transition into retirement. We have projects to look forward to but aren't overwhelmed. The volunteers and staff that we work with are great and make our time with the organization satisfying. Pat and Bruce, thank you for all you do, you are a huge benefit to our community!
