RSVP Volunteer Spotlight Elena and Gary Wiggins How do you volunteer as a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) participant? My involvement with RSVP began about 6½ years ago volunteering with the Packing Friendship program, which provides weekend food to students in need. About three years later, I became a certified Staying Active and independent for Life (SAIL) instructor, teaching others how simple exercises can be life-changing. Soon, my husband Gary joined RSVP as a SAIL instructor. We really enjoy volunteering together! Plus, during the pandemic RSVP provided an opportunity to write students, encouraging them during that challenging time to stay positive and engaged in school. Why do you volunteer with RSVP? Gary and I volunteer with RSVP because we believe in what the organization is doing for our community. RSVP encourages, supports, and appreciates its senior volunteers. What message would you like to share? We would encourage seniors to volunteer and discover that they can make a difference. RSVP offers a wide variety of opportunities to get involved.
